What is Culture, Faith, and Politics about?

Pat Kahnke is a retired evangelical pastor and former Republican (until Donald Trump). Through his articles, podcasts, and videos, Pat discusses the intersection of culture, faith, and politics, with an emphasis on pushing back against the takeover of the Christian movement in America by authoritarianism and Christian Nationalism. Pat Kahnke is the author of two books: A Christian Case Against Donald Trump (2024) and MAGA Seduction: Resisting the Debasement of the Christian Conscience (2020).

Culture, Faith, and Politics is a place for people who sense that something deeper is shifting beneath the headlines — where culture, faith, and politics collide in ways that feel urgent, unsettling, and deeply personal. Pat Kahnke writes to help himself, and the rest of us, to stay awake: to name the rising authoritarianism around us, to call out the misuse of religion in public life, and to offer context, clarity, and community for the road ahead. If you’re feeling disoriented by what’s happening in America — or if you simply want language for what you’ve been sensing — you’re in the right place.
