Dave Johnson and Pat Kahnke discuss Chapter 4 of Matthew Taylor's outstanding book "The Violent Take it by Force: The Christian Movement that's threatening our democracy."
Thank you for further insight. I’ve read the book as well. I have tried to point out some of the origins of the Trump movement. Like Jerry Falwell Jr the first evangelical to publicly endorse him. Even with the darkness in Jerry’s heart, definitely pointed out the connection with Paula White . Even I didn’t know how deep it goes with Paula. Amazingly many who I know would have clearly marked her as a heretic! Yet now they just blindly push the narrative forward. I was going to a Vineyard church, the pastor has allowed me to speak prophetically and a message called leaven. However while he enjoyed having bible study at our house. Still would often debate me with his obvious kingdom now theology. Also alarming that even in his own personal revelation, that God would allow Christians to commit violence against those nasty dirty woke folks, if needed. It goes way deeper than this. Including whenever I question Trumps origins , he points how his going to Billy Graham events in his youth or his attendance in church. Often praising Norman Vincent Peal . ( in my opinion another heretic)
Thanks for these helpful discussions. I bought the book, listened to Matthew Taylor lecture as well. One comment about your hesitation to "over-psychologize."My personal experience has been/is that ongoing psychological discernment is a blessing. Knowing what my physical survival instincts, psychological survival strategies, and traumas are makes it less likely that I will now be manipulated, as I was in my youth. We really need to know what is motivating our choices.
